
Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated, tech-savvy, and hard-working Telecommunications Team Leader to support our engineering management team. In this role, you will act as a core technical evaluator and mentor. Your primary responsibilities will include shortlisting and interviewing telecom site engineers, assessing technical competencies, and designing and delivering hands-on, on-the-job training for fresh engineering graduates.
The ideal candidate will have robust field experience across multi-vendor equipment, a strong work ethic, and impeccable environment, health, and safety (EHS) credentials.
Requirements:
• Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of active field experience as a Telecom Site Engineer.
• Vendor Knowledge: Deep technical familiarity and hands-on deployment/troubleshooting knowledge across multi-vendor products: Huawei, ZTE, Nokia, and Ericsson.
• EHS & Safety Certifications: (Mandatory) Active certifications in:
• Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)
• Electrical Safety
• First Aid & Firefighting
• Core Competencies:
• Strong working knowledge of Telecom Implementation (TI) standards, civil works, power systems, and line-of-sight/RF installation.
• Tech-friendly mindset; comfortable using advanced project management apps, site-audit tools, and digital reporting platforms.
• Soft Skills: Hard-working, excellent communication skills (for interviewing and training), leadership potential, and an adaptive attitude toward tight project deadlines.
Work conditions:
1. Physical Environment & Work Setting
• Hybrid Deployment: The role requires split time between the corporate office (for shortlisting, candidate interviewing, and training curriculum design) and active telecom sites (for hands-on, on-the-job graduate training, EHS audits, and practical site evaluations).
• Field Exposure: Regular exposure to outdoor site environments, which includes working in variable weather conditions, high-elevation terrains, and active construction or tower deployment areas.
2. Hours of Work & Flexibility
• Standard & Project-Based Hours: Typically a standard full-time schedule, but requires a high degree of flexibility. Due to the nature of telecom deployments and the urgency of hiring phases, occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines or conduct site safety reviews.
• On-Call Availability: May occasionally need to be reachable for urgent site safety escalations or critical technical troubleshooting during active rollouts.
3. Physical Demands & Safety Expectations
• Active Field Presence: The position involves standing for extended periods, walking on uneven site terrain, and demonstrating practical technical/EHS tasks to fresh graduates.
• Strict EHS Compliance: Absolute adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines is mandatory. As a certified HIRA and safety professional, the Team Leader is expected to lead by example on-site at all times.

• Frequent Local/Regional Travel: Regular travel to various telecom site locations is required to supervise and train junior engineers in real-world scenarios.

Responsibilities:
• Talent Acquisition & Technical Evaluation:
• Review, screen, and shortlist applications for site engineer and technical roles.
• Conduct technical interviews and practical assessments to evaluate candidates' field competence.
• Training & Mentorship:
• Develop and implement structured on-the-job training programs for fresh graduate engineers.
• Mentor junior staff on site installation standards, troubleshooting, and quality assurance.
• Technical Surveillance & Quality Control:
• Provide expert guidance on Telecom Implementation (TI) best practices.
• Ensure site deployments align with international standards and specific vendor requirements.
• EHS Leadership:
• Enforce strict site safety protocols and promote a zero-accident safety culture.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety briefings before and during deployment phases.
